Raven S. Blackstone (BA/MA in English Literature/Creative Writing) is a teaching artist, who has worked for the City University of New York (CUNY) since 2004.

She is also a protest poet known as Mestiza, who has performed at CUNY schools
and other local venues like The Cornelia Street Café, East Harlem Cafe, Camaradas, and The Bowery Poetry Club. In 2006, she founded The Live Poets Society, which hosts “The Hatrix,” an annual poetry battle of the sexes, mentors new poets in the
craft of performance poetry, and promotes the enjoyment of poetry in all its forms.

She is the Editor-in-Chief for Bushwick Media (BM), which she established to
publish writing by women and people of color. Her writing has been featured in Grolier's Encyclopedia Latina: History, Culture & Society in the United States, Fijate magazine, Siempre News, and other publications.

Raven is also the Executive Producer at Straight Outta Bushwick Productions (SOBP), whose current projects include “In the Cut,” a multimedia platform created
to help artists go global.
